Founder and CEO, MyEcommerce, 2008 - Present

MyEcommerce is a turn key software solutions company specialising in Product Management. We help businesses turn their ideas into digital reality.

We also provide support services for freelancers and development firms who may not have access to the required infrastructure, nor want to be involved in the management and delivery of post production support.

We work with clients in cities around South Africa including; George, Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Knysna, Johannesburg, Durban and Nelson Mandela Bay. Internationally we service clients in Atlanta, London and Belgium.

In my role as CEO I’m responsible for driving strategy, the management of company finances as well as recruitment and training of staff.

I am involved in project management and various strategic planning elements both internally and for our clients.

I often play the role of devil's advocate, when it comes to User Interface design and process flow, during planning and ask the difficult questions that usually include: if, but or maybe.

Some projects I have worked on include:

Hlalani IQ - A construction project management solution. It was designed to assist an engineering firm that wanted a more streamlined way to manage project and financial data than excel spreadsheets. Instead of only developing it as an in-house system, we designed it as a whole new product offering allowing them to enter the Software as a Service business. I was responsible for conceptualising the product’s vision, assisting in designing the database, managing the development team as well as overseeing deployment. Soon after launch we added an additional module to handle custom designed surveys, allowing municipal officials to use the system for rectification audits and consolidated reporting on municipal properties.

IMESA Conference - We developed a bespoke conferencing solution for the Institution of Municipal Engineering of South Africa. The system caters for delegate and exhibitor management as well as invoicing and a range of comprehensive reports. The key functionality however was catering for the engineers' CPD points by using a QR code on all the delegates' name tags in conjunction with an iOS and Android app used to scan the tags when entering the venue. This allowed us to automate and more accurately report on attendance of the accredited talks.

MTO Forestry - I assisted on various projects including; scoping an internal use health and safety system, performing a site audit and interviewing key staff in order to draft and submit a Departmental ICT infrastructure review to the Group IT Manager, I also drafted a project brief for a handheld timber logging solution.

Airton Timbers - I conducted a workshop on Social Media and Organic Web Strategy and assisted the company in drafting a scope document for their web presence and sourcing a service provider to implement the project, saving them around 180,000.00 ZAR through the process while delivering a more comprehensive solution.

Wixel Design - I provided technical consultation and developed specification documents for various projects.

Product Manager, Debt Wise Solutions, 2008 - 2012

MyEcommerce co-owned Debt Wise Solutions(Pty) Ltd which we successfully exited in May 2011.

The Debt Wise Solutions program is a debt counselling and payment processing engine designed to operate under the national credit act in South Africa. The system was subject to annual forensic audits.

I was responsible for managing all elements of production and the day to day development life cycle. I oversaw the support systems (telephone and email) for clients and internal users; I also did site visits to larger clients, providing support and onsite training.

I recruited and lead an internal team of developers, support agents and technicians as well as multiple outsourced developers, through four major iterations of the program.

I played a strategic role in hardware and software acquisitions for internal use as well as the design and deployment of hosted infrastructure.

In this role I interacted with various national bodies, the National Credit Regulator, the Banking Association of South Africa, National Debt Mediation Association and other industry role players.

Operations Manager, Leading Skills Agency, 2006 - 2008

In this role I engaged with the Department of Labour, National Skills Fund and was responsible for financial reporting as well as project management on a pilot programme focused on Community Based Cooperatives providing a range of business development facilitation and mentoring.

The project included the design, development and accreditation of a learning programme.

I presented the following courses:

I also coordinated a regional project in partnership with Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and AfriGIS conducted for the Eden District Municipality.
